At Step by Step Institute we regard all behaviour as a form of communication. We help parents manage behaviour in a positive way so that their child can substitute challenging behaviour with more appropriate behaviour and communication by using positive motivators by combining a range of strategies with a holistic and child-centred approach.
Our team of highly trained and licensed psychotherapist and psychologists provide effective and holistic psychotherapy services including individualized therapy, screening assessments, accommodations for schools, and consultation and training services for parents with children with special needs. Through face-to-face therapy, tele-therapy, and walk & talk sessions, group therapy and workshops our psychologists can help your child develop new skills to improve and manage behaviour.

Our psychologists use a range of psychometric screening tools along with interview with parents to provide an accurate assessment. They establish individualized skill acquisition and behaviour reduction programs tailored to the particular needs of the child or young person with proactive and reactive strategies which are reviewed regularly by the psychology team, class teacher, other team members and parents. They also monitor these plans to ensure a consistent approach to behaviour management using de-escalation and positive management techniques. They also work with child’s teachers to guide them provide an effective teaching program with structure in the organisation of the day and layout of classroom by reducing anxiety, improving attention and consequently more participation.
Psychologists combine various treatments such as functional behaviour analysis, social skills training, emotional regulation, impulse control, and parent training and consultation to help children understand and interpret the world around them and interact better with others.
